My current read, the third of the summer. It’s lovely.

Does “lovely = horribly depressing”? Then yes! I got through the first few chapters and couldn’t take how heavy my heart felt while reading it, so I put it down.

When I need my fix of Israeli fiction that’s alternately depressing and hilarious, I’ll stick with this guy.

I agree; it’s by no means a cheery read. However, it’s a great story so far, and I’ve grown very interested in the father as a character. He reminds me of my own grandfather. Except he wasn’t Jewish. Or Russian.
